Our Women into Public Life
project is well underway with new events and opportunities for women to get involved. A training course for women on Mull and around Iverary on building confidence and skills will start on 25th October - see here for full details and booking info - and the project is also offering women the chance to attend events around the country - see here for more information.

Gita Sahgal talk in Edinburgh

Engender are delighted that Gita Sahgal
has accepted our invitation to speak about secularism and womens rights. Gita is a founder member of both Southall Black Sisters and Women and Fundamentalism, has made films about women's rights and has also been head of Amnesty International's Gender Unit. Her talk will be followed by a discussion and will take place on 27th October, 6-8pm at St Paul’s and St George’s Church, 46 York Place, Edinburgh, EH1 3HU. The event is free but donations are welcome.

Glasgow Feminist network relaunch

The Glasgow Feminist Network is up and running again with it's relaunch meeting taking place on Thursday 7th October at 6pm in the Glasgow Women's Library. The GWL are now in their new premises in the Mitchell Library, entrance via 15 Berkely Street.

Scottish Women's Convention events

Conference for Older Women (Highlands and Islands) 16th October, Park Hotel, Dunoon, 10am. This conference is being held to give older women in Scotland the opportunity to focus on and discuss issues of relevance to them. Roadshows: Tell Us Your Views! Issues Affecting Women Across Scotland: [Mid Scotland and Fife] Friday 22nd October, Golden Lion Hotel, Stirling, 12pm, (South Scotland) Saturday 23rd October, Station Hotel, Ayr, 12.00pm
These roadshows will focus on proposed cuts to public services and their impact on women. We will also be discussing positive aspects of living in these areas and what recommendations women would make to the Scottish Government to improve where they live.
