Did you see board member Emma Ritch on the BBC's Politics Show on Sunday being interviewed about the coalition proposal to cut child benefit for some families? Well worth a watch and Emma managed to give Engender a mention! See here

t's been confirmed today that the Women's National Commission is among the quangos to be abolished. It's core functions are to be brought under the Government Equalities Office. As a WNC member organisation, Engender has signed a letter to Equalities Minister, Teresa May MP from the Women's Resource Centre which emphasises the need for the WNC as a voice for women in the UK. EHRC report on UK Equality

The Equalities and Human Rights Commission have published their first trienniel report into equality in the UK. 'How Equal is Britain' is a positive read which paints a country which has come a long way. Read the report here

Ten years ag the UN Security Council resolution 1325 called for women's full and equal participation in all elements of peacemaking, and for prevention of sexual violence in war. UK 15th in WEF Global Gender Gap Report

The BBC reports that the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report places Iceland as the best county in terms of gender equality for the second year running while the UK stays at 15th. Read more
