Public Lecture - Have women closed the gender gap?

Professor Alice Brown presents a lecture in Edinburgh on 6th October which asks 'Can we assume that women now have an equal share of power and influence on policy making in modern society?' The lecture is chaired by Brian Wilson of the BBC and will be followed by a wine reception and book launch for ‘Women and Citizenship in Britain and Ireland in the Twentieth Century’. See

An EU resolution has recognised that the informal caring roles carried out by women throughout thier lives leaves them vulnerable to poverty in old age and calls on 'innovative' policies to address this, Wired reports.
